Will a tight leather sheath wear the tanker grey coating from the blade of a TGLB?

I just purchased my first Busse (tanker grey with bkack/ tan g-10) and, being my most expensive knife, I want to keep it as pretty as I can for as long as I can.

Thanks for your input!

EDIT: Moderator needs to READ more closely B4 posting, LOL :o ;)

The sheath is tight enough where you can turn it upside down and shake it and the knife will not fall out. Kydex is nice but I prefer the look of a leather sheath.

It sounds like I need to decide if this is going to be a user or a safe queen. I am leaning toward the first option!

The leather will stretch and be just perfect. I just learned this a week ago. The more you get the knife out the more it will rub. I say use it.

Crap, you did say leather! :o My bad, sorry man. Yes, the sheath should "break in" over time, shouldn't do much if at all to the coating. :)

Leather can be looser if you have a retaining strap on your sheath. Skystorm makes an awesome rig for the TGLB. Keep in mind if you get something that will scratch the blade imbedded in leather it will scratch it just as fast as something hard imbedded in Kydex!

I vote that you use it and put some love marks on it before it even sees the sheath.

Use it!!!! However if nice is your thing buy a Barbie Dream House place TGLB in Barbie bed and watch over it from a dark corner of the room while it sleeps lol Creeper

I regret not using my TGLB and have been fortunate enough to get ones I miss back, but enjoy them to the fullest extent! Take a minute sit down look at it decide what you want to do! Remember spa treatments are always an option

Beware the leather will stretch.Don't always think you can turn it upside down and it wont fall out or you might be say'n Dadgummit.

Thank you :)

All great advice here.

Thank you all for your information. The only other coated blade I've used in the past was an ESEE Laser Strike and after just one camping trip the coating was in pretty sorry shape. This was from just normal use, I do not usually use a knife to baton fire wood or anything like that. I do not plan to take over my 8-year old's barbie dream house to store and display the knife, LOL maybe something between the 2 extremes.

A big plus to busse combat blades, you can beat the snot out of it and no matter what you do to it, once done having fun, send it to busse along with apx $30-40 (last time I did yrs ago), they will recoat your knife and make the edge all factory new again. Only you will even know its been used.

Yup, how many times in life do you realize the old saying "You get what you pay for" is the truth?
