Any of you peoples moved into the future and switched to a tankless water heater?
We've had the joy of our water heater going berzerk on us so we get to decide whether we're going to take the leap into the tankless realm or stay in the past with the old style tank storage water heater.
I did some research on the subject and pretty much came up with diddley so I figured I'd go to folks I can trust, my pals, the bastids!!!!!
So, if you have a tankless water heater or have had one, lemme know if you like it, love it, hate it, and why!!!
Thanks peoples!!!!!

Our hot water comes from a coil heated by the furnace - no tank. We never run out of hot water and the furnace doesn't really run that much to provide it. I prefer it to having an electric water heater with a tank.

They cost quite a bit up front. There are lots of small units that get put in that aren't really properly sized for the uses of the residents. These usually lead to horror stories.

The larger units need a larger diameter gas line than most people have in place and have venting requirements that might limit placement.

Probably worth it in the long run, but it will cost you.

There are some tax credits for I think for the year you buy one.

I'd go along with the size matters observation. They are actually mandated for lavatories in new commerecial buildings in some municipalities. This use makes perfect sense because they are only called on to make small amounts of hot water over a few hours a day. The ones I've encountered for this use are quit small and electric.
I'm considering one ( larger )for our upstairs bathroom simply because we have the dubious honor of sending everything down the drain into a holding tank - which we pay about 5cents a gallon to make go away. Running the tap for several min. in order to get hot water up from the basement is a bite at this disposal price.

Thanks guys!!
After looking at the sites AKMI and VH provided links to, we've decided to stick with the old style.
