Tanto 3V or San Mai

Looking at getting a master tanto
Should I go with 3V or San mai ?
I have never own anything in San Mai

Love'in the San Mai, but look at the steels in both to see their relative merits in relation to your potential uses.

Do you want it for field use? Is light discipline a consideration? Go with the Nightfall model.

Do you want it to impress or to intimidate? Go with the San Mai model.


Here's what I recommend: Save your pennies and buy a Warcraft in 3V to use and a Master Tanto in San Mai III to admire. You'll thank me.

In my opinion, the Warcraft (any size) is one of the finest knives Cold Steel has ever made. Yes, ever.

Also something to think about do you want an older san mai master tanto or newer one.

I'd love to have a black 3V recon tanto but the handles are just a bit too short for my mitts.
