Hey guys,
I've been eyeballin' the tanto groove for a while now, and I think I'm going to take the plunge.
First off, does anyone have a picture of it next to a blur? Also, how grippy is the G-10 on it compared to the stippled trac tec on a blur?

Thanks guys!

The G10 scales on the Groove IMO are grippier than the newer Trac-Tec, but not as grippy as the old Trac-Tec...as a matter of fact, they're just about right. ;)

The Tanto Groove is a fine knife...the blade and handle DLC is perfectily applied and the G10 scales and blade profile complete the visual perfection. Mechanically it is possibly the smoothest manual flipper I have and the frame lock is rock solid. Mine was also plenty sharp out-of-the-box. One of my all-time favorite Kershaws! :D

I'll take it! :D

That looks awesome! I actually like the tanto, but I like the higher grind that you put on it. Sadly, I don't really have that high of quality sharpeners....

How did you take the coating off, is it just a little bit steeper grind?

Thanks!

Ok SV, you did a good job, now I'm wanting it even more and I still can't order it until Monday :grumpy:

:D

Interesting comparison between the 2. I have both knives & prefer the tanto Groove. I like flippers, its tanto blade is thicker with duel grind (Flat front edge & hollow grind main edge).

Both knives are very good gripwise, however, I like the Groove's flipper that acts as a forefinger guard. You really can't lose with either knife, but as I said, I prefer the tanto Groove, but that's me.

Good luck with what you pick.

As CL01 mentioned, the tip is flat ground where the main part of the
blade is hollow ground. That and I also took it down to 12 degrees per
side. And yes, if you were to try this you would definitely want to use
diamond stones. It would take forever on anything else.
