Elizabeth is ready to buy another knife, and she's a tanto maniac....we're looking at knives under a 100 dollars, can be either fixed or folder or bali. We know and love everything benchmade, but I'm trying to find something a little different for her to investigate just because I'd like to see a knife I haven't used before. Just need some ideas.

A little different would be an Emerson tanto with its chisel grind. I think you'd be better off with a Cold Steel Gunsite or Voyager tanto, though, with their v-grind.

My favorite tanto and also favorite knife is the SOG X-ray vision. Blades AT-34, "axis" lock and nice size blade. Very good knife.

Knifeworks has a Bark River Tanto for $88.

DLT Trading has a good selection of BRKT Tantos still in stock, several priced at $97.

If you're looking for something different from the standard "tactical tanto" knives being offered, this is it. I have one, and it's truly a beautiful piece of art.

You might be able to still find the Spyderco Bob Lum Tanto around that price. I am reffering to the fixed blade with the micarta handle and leather sheath. But their folder is good, too.
I will also second the Cold Steel Tanto Voyager. It is a classic and I consider it a must for any tantofanatic.
Or maybe you want to be adventurous and try the folding katana from Seki Cut with micarta handle.

Hell ya, I second BRKT! Mike is the "shiznit"

These have all been great ideas. I have owned an AUS-8 Kobun from Cold Steel, which I found to be excellent, after a modest re-proifile of the edge. They sell for much less now then when I bought mine. Just a thought.
