Here is a Tanto inspired knife I just finished up. It isn't traditional that's for sure!

.262 5160 stock, it is about 1/4" thick
9" total length, 4.25 inch blade from ricasso to tip
MCAM Scales
Stainless tubes
"knocker" end
extreme convex chisel grind
glow in dark and OD paracord lanyard
grapefruit patina

I added some style to the bottom of the guard.

Grapefruit patina looks very cool, Dan!!! How did you do it (if you don't mind sharing your 'trade' secrets, that is)?

Thanks everybody!

I peeled and cut up a grapefruit then threw the slices and the knife in a ziplock bag, wrapped it tight and let it sit for about 4 hours. You will get a blackish patina wherever the grapefruit was in contact. This is all you need to do, I take it further but it really doesn't matter.

I did this a couple of times and scrubbed the patina down each time only leaving what remained for what I feel is a more permanent patina. It is a strong etch, you can smell the metal "cooking" when you open the bag. I always scrub anything I patina down with baking soda and/or TSP to neutralize it. I also spray everything with something like WD-40, it seems to help lock down the patina. After that I let it sit overnight, clean it with soap and water, and then coat it in Ballistol to keep everything nice and from rusting.
