Traded into a NICA tanto Sebenza large, stamped 1999 in the handle. I'm guessing that means it has BG42 blade. I've never been big on tantos but I like this one.

Any more info is gladly appreciated.

I not normally into tantos either, but that is a nice looking knife! Did it come with a box or any paperwork? To answer your question, yes the steel would be bg42.

I already carry an Insingo every day and have a classic micarta and Umnumzaan. I don't want to mar it by carrying it to find out if I like it. These seem to be collectible.

I used to have one years ago in my early days of buying CRK. It was a great knife. Nice tanto blade on the regular sebenza platform. The blades were indeed BG42 and it is collectible. This version they made 400 I believe. The other version they made later featured S30V blades I believe and they made 200 of them, it had a slightly different handle design. I sold mine years ago to buy another CRK, but I do miss it. I find the tanto blade to have limited use compared to the other CRK blade designs, but they do make excellent slicers. Nice Score on a Nice CRK Collectible that is getting rarer by the day.....!!! Congrats

Nice one! I have one of them myself, and am regretting leaving it Stateside. I'd sure be using it over here.

Back in the day I owned the large, small and one piece fixed CRK NICA tantos. I ended up selling all my knives in 2006 due to financial problems and those are the ones I miss the most. I got about double what I paid for them and assume the current selling price would be up there.

Most of the NICA 400 run was indeed BG42. At the end of the run the steel was switched to S30V,
All of the NICA 200 run was S30V.

I've never even seen a fixed blade one.

I've never even seen a fixed blade one.

It was a "one piece" design based (as my questionable memory recalls) on the aviator model with 4" blade and tanto profile similar to the NICA Sebenzas. They may have been even more rare as one source says there were only 100 made. I'm sure they, along with all the other discontinued one piece knives are stashed away by collectors now. If you could find one it would be silly expensive.

Found this pic on line.

Unfortunately, this one has to go. I bought the 2013 Case Bose collaboration, with money that was reserved for other necessities. I only have the knife itself, no box, paperwork or tool. It is in pretty good shape. I cut the factory lanyard off, and put a lanyard I made on it. Would anyone have any rough idea of where to start with it's worth? It's a tanto, so that is a select crowd. It was made in 1999, with BG42 steel, so that is a plus. Limited edition, regular, large with graphics. Might be a smaller audience there.

No paper means you lose most of the collectors, it's a great user. I'd love to have it over here, that steel should hold up great.

What kind of grind did this one have? I thought all Sebs were hollow ground, but someone said it may be convex?
