This is my first post on these forums. I frequent other forum communities, but I just got around to this one. I met Dale Baxter in Little Rock last weekend, and he asked if I had seen his awesome bowie on the BladeForums (Here). Since I hadn't, I thought I must be missing some awesome stuff over here. Anyway, here is a picure of my tanto. It's my second knife where I did everything including heat treatment, though it is stock removal. While Mr. Baxter's post failed to get the full beauty of his bowie, mine seems to look better in the pictures than in real life, to me at least. You don't see the flaws from my polish :).
Steel 1065
Fittings 1018
wrap parachord
habaki copper
sheath and handle are poplar finished with faux stone and polyacrylic

Nope, can't pick out any flaws at all. It looks great.

Welcome to BladeForums Nathan. I think you will like it here.

Well, the flaws are there, but the light has to catch them just right for the camera to pick them up. And, I already like it here :). Thanks, for the welcome.

Very pretty knife! Glad you joined.

Thanks everyone for the compliments. Here is one more picture that I have. It is a composite with a picture of the blade sheathed and edge up like it would be worn.here

Sorry, the picture won't attach so you'll have to follow the link.

Wonderful! I love traditional Japanese style blades and this is no exception. Also, it's good too have some more makers out of TN around here, welocme.

Thanks, dylan_d. I haven't met very many makers from TN, but I've heard of Joe Walters. He makes some awesome Japanese styled blades and fittings, and he is located around Murfreesboro as well if I'm not mistaken.

I'm trying to learn as much as I can right now, and I plan to stick with the Japanese styled stuff for a while with maybe the occasional western styled knife. I hope to work my way up to swords eventually.

Thanks again for the compliments.

Murfreesboro? Very cool, I'm sitting in Murfreesboro right now at MTSU. I may have to look him up...

Cool, I had a friend that went to MTSU. I went to a small school called Union University in Jackson, TN, and MTSU is like a city compared to Union. Anyway, here is Joe Walters' wesite. http://www.moonlitforge.com/ If you send him a message, tell me how it goes. I haven't talked to him, yet; I've just seen some of his posts on other forums.
