I got Small Tanto seb 3days ago.
It is looking good,awesome,400 limited run.
Though I wonder it has blade tip without edges.Just ground,no edge bevelled on the tip
of the blade. Dull tip!
Compare with CQC7, CQC has edge bevelled all
over blade including tip.
Why Small tanto has blade like that?
Please any suggestions?

The tip of the tanto is not sharpened because its primary purpose is to penetrate. The straight edge should be very sharp. My large tanto is the same way. Everything on a CRK knife is the way it is because that is the way Chris wanted it, it is highly unlikely that you would be sent a diffective knife.

Scott Dog, thank you for your reply.
I understand my tanto is not a deffective one. Purpose of tip is penetrating.
But how to use the tip is not so easy .
What do you penetrate by that?

I expect that it is much better the tip edged, despite of Chris thinking .

How do you think about it?

I agree, I like the edge sharp. You might want to get in touch with CRK and ask them if they will sharpen the edge for you. I don't think that you will be dissapointed. To be blunt, I think that it is made to penetrate someones chest. In general, the tanto is primarily a defensive weapon and is not suited for utility purposes. This is where the small Sebenza shines. It is an excellent utility knife and in my humble opinion would be excellent for defense. The reality is that you will use your knife for utility (opening packages, cutting apples) very often and probably never have the opportunity to split open a bad guys chest. The CQC 7 has a bevel edge that is difficult to use for fine work while the CRK tanto has a v ground edge which I like better. You may want to try a local knife shop to see if they will sharpen the edge or maybe even try it yourself with one of the many sharpening systems out there. I sharpened mine. But call or e-mail CRK and see what they say first, they are very good at what they do and will give you good advice, they want you to be happy.

The Tanto blade on the Sebenza was made as an exclusive, limited editon for the N.I.C.A. stores. The chisel point, which has become popular under the name of Tanto, even though it is not a true Tanto, is a blade style. Our Tanto Sebenza was not designed to pierce anyone's chest

but rather to offer a variation on the Sebenza theme; it is a practical shape and can be used for a wide variety of chores.

The geometry at the tip of our Tanto blade makes conventional sharpening impossible because the curve of the grind results in a wide angle coming down to the chisel. The edge is polished and is as sharp as it can be. It may not feel sharp because of the polished edge but it will cut.

Thank you, Anne.
I know that your Tanto is not designed to pierce anyone's chest.
So,I want to know how to use that nonsharpen
edge.(I would not use my exclusive one ofcourse.)
What does the tip cut? How? Pushing storongly
Any suggestions?

I don't quite know how to answer your question - simply use you Tanto as you would use any other knife!
