Tanto Sharpening on Sharpmaker?

I think I may need to sharpen my 722 in the not too distant future, also I have been working on a knife (one that I hope will be the first I will complete) that has a tanto.

Do you sharpen the primary and secondary edge seperately? Will i round out the secondary point?

yes, and it will if ya arent careful.

i like a regular bench stone for tantos myself, but the sharpmaker will work too, on the new ones ya can insert the stone into the base and use it much like a std stone, check out the book it comes with, it shows ya how.

I have a cold steel voyager tanto. I tried sharening the two edges separate and it was kind of a pain doing the tip. I switched to sharpening it like any old knife and the sharpmaker does a better and easier job. The secondary point is a little rounded, but not much more than it used to be and I actually like it better that way.
