I have a new Cold Steel XL Voyager with a 5in plain edge blade. When needed how do I go about sharpening this blade. Thanks for any info.

Well, sharpening a double edged tanto is the same as sharpening any knife reeally. You just have to do each grind on at a time. In other words, treat the primary grind and the secondary grind separately.

If you want to take is a step further, you can put different edge angles in each grind. I have a chisel ground fixed blade China cheapie in which I ground the primary edge narrow, but still with a bevel, and the tip grind is flat from the spine to the edge. This make the tip very sharp, but weaker; CS's tantos (the "Japanese Influence" or whatever ones) are "Americanized tantos": flat ground at the tip but hollow ground at the primary edge to promote tip strength.

Look back a few pages. Crayola had a really good explination. Avoid rounding the junction point.
