I am still a noob at the whole knife-making bit, so be gentle !!
This is one of the knives that I finished in the last week. I forged it from an old garden tiller tine, which I assume was 1095. I think it turned out fairly well, overall....for an old piece of gardening equipment. Overall it's about 10" in length; blade is 6", handle is 4". It has a full flat grind, as you all can see. I finally got the hamon to show up after I hand-rubbed it to 800 grit. I made the sheath as well, and it's just stamped leather with a ray-skin inlay.
I entered this one into the local county fair in the "Handmade Knives" class. I'm hoping for a blue ribbon or best of show, but just getting it seen is good enough !
------ UPDATE !! ------ The knife won a blue ribbon at the local fair, and the judges recommended that I send it on to the District Fair. If it does well there, then it's on to State. I'm keeping my fingers crossed ! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I hope you all like !
