Can someone that has used both Tanto's and conventional blades give me their points of view? I see no advantage with a Tanto, I mean, lesser good for penetration but maybe better at cutting or what?

depends on the tanto, emersons are hard to sharpen chisel edge blades which imho do not cut as well as a regular "V" grind blade for normal edc use, but are ok for sure, and also i like the handle shape and the "look" the emersons have myself, others like a BM stryker or spyderco lum are "V" grinds (well most of them) which really cut just fine for edc and are not hard to sharpen. i think the tanto has the edge in penetration, others are better for slicing and edc carry.

me, i just like the way emersons look, and the grip fits my hand well, and have finally learned to sharpen the chisel grind blades, so i like them, though some dont

seems like ya either really like them/or hate them not a lot of middle ground.
