Got mine yesterday. It's second hand, but in good condition. I find it hard to open though, and I can't get it centered. I assume these two have something to do with each other.

Other than these two issues, I really like it. Not sure if it'll replace my 25 though.

First things first take it apart and clean it up good and then lube it and put it back together. That cures most sticky problems on my CRK's.I have a 25 and it opens smooth as butter when it's all cleaned and lubed up and screws are tightened just right. If that doesn't fix it then check the washers closely to see that none of them are bent. Just a few of the thoughts that came to me off the top of my head.

Opening an unnum well takes practice. The detent is strong so it won't open if you are applying any pressure to the lockbar. You need to wedge the tip of your thumb behind the blade stop stud and give it enough force to break the detent but not so much that it flicks out hard.

You probably know the info above already, but I'm trying to say that it's normal to pick up an Umnum and have difficulty at first. I can't speak about the centering. Mine is perfect.

I can open my Umnum easily now but it's still the trickiest to open of any knife I own. Despite that, it's been my EDC for three years because of it's awesomeness.

Already tried that :/

With only a 2 screw construction there's not much adjustment for the zaan. Fully tightened down I can get it to center, but that comes with its ow problems. A lost seems like the lock we had too much tension on it, but of course that can't be adjusted since the LBS is press fitted. The previous owner anodized the scales so sending it to crk isn't an option.

I have found that even say a 1/8 turn can make a world of difference. I always tightened mine all the way, then just ever so lightly loosen it. I have had 3 of them over the years and thats what worked for me.......When I buy a used CRK, I always take apart and thoroughly clean as well. The only ones I dont clean are the New. ones.

Also, too much lube can be a bad thing when it comes to knife pivots.

I think CRK would service it for you even if it's been anodized. Try calling them up and see?

The scales look very dark. Are they anodized or coated? If there is a coating, that could have impacted the tolerances.

I think if the basics have not worked, I would send it to CRK and hear what they have to say. Even if they charge for repairs, it would be worth it probalby. The tanto Umnumzaan is a really cool configuration IMO.

Good luck, and PLEASE report back with whatever comes of this so we may all learn.

It's anodized a dark blue/ almost bronze.

I would do what some of the others have already said. Call them and see if they will fix it (even if they charge you). I have one and I have no problems with it. It's a great knife! I know how it is .... if there's a problem with it you probably won't carry it and that is too good of a knife not to carry!

FWIW I just bought the same knife NIB from TNK and mine is hard as heck to open as well. I loosened the pivot and the blade went off center. I tightened it back up and centered back up perfectly. I am still learning how to open it but am not going to really worry about it too much until it has had time to break in more.

I feel your pain though. It is tough to open for sure, much more than my 25 or small Insingo.

Just got off the phone with Angela at CRK. The knife is still covered. I'll take pictures of how off center it is for reference photos.
