Anyone have any pics of the tip of a Tanto umnumzaan? I'm curious to see how much thicker it is compred to a large sebenza and a regular umnumzaan. Thanks.

there is a known seller in Canada that has pics... send me a PM and I'll tell you

I just scored one of those Canadian specials in a Sebenza. Looking at blade thickness, it starts out the same as my other Sebbies. The difference is that it keeps more weight along the top in that last inch of blade. It tapers in very little until that last 1/8", then it bevels down to form the edge. A nice, sturdy blade without being overly bulky.

The Tanto Umnumzaan has a much thicker tip than the Sebenza or Umnumzaan.

This pic shows a large Regular Sebenza, standard Umnumzaan and a Tanto Umnumzaan. :)

Haze, any chance you would have a similar comparison imsge of the tanto and an insigno blade?

That is a superb pic, by the way. Thank you.

If Haze can't help you with that I can, but it won't be until tomorrow.

Actually, that Canadian dealer also did a run of polished tanto blade umnumzaans.

True North Knives has the exclusive on tanto Umnumzaans so it's fair to say they would have come from CRK like that.

My apologies for taking so long, but here's some pics for you. Hope they show what you're looking for.

Oh, and I hope scatches and dirt don't bother you, but these aren't safe queens. The tanto especially gets used a lot.

Thanks for posting your pics Lone Wolfe. Nice to see a tanto user. That is a polished model, no?

I think the Ti slabs could be blasted regularly if you have a cabinet to bring them back to like new. Wonder what media CR uses? Tanto polished is on my list for sure. Hopefully Santa will be good to me. If you have any more pics post them if you get a chance. I will probably get murdered by everyone, but I don't like all the fancy stuff. I want a user!

You're welcome.

True, I could do that, but really don't see a reason to. It looks like the beater it is, and if I make it all new looking I'd have to go back through the pain of seeing the first scratch I put on it. The first scratch always makes me :grumpy:, so I try to buy ones that already have that out of the way. I do have a couple pretty ones, even a couple of damascus blades, but the bulk of my collection is plain old users.

I hear you. I was just saying once the slabs get so bad with rub marks and blems it would be super easy to bring them back to life. Is that the polished blade on the tanto?

And that's something I might do if I decided to sell the knife so the next owner could suffer that first scratch all over again. :D

Yep, polished on the tanto, stonewashed on the insingo.

Now, if there was a way to get rid of the stonewash on the flats above the hollow grind.

Can you tell I despise stonewash?
