Eventhough I'd like to see a smaller version of the Umnumzaan, I think I'd rather have one now than wait for something that might never be made. I was wondering if the tip of the tanto version is thicker than that on the regular blade version? Also, has anyone ever tried to use the spine with a fire-starter?
Thanks:thumbup:

The tanto is wicked, looks thicker than my seb to me...never tried a starter....i heard others say they have. :)

The tanto Umnumzaan is a nice blade for sure. The one thing I do like about the tanto over the the spear point is the lack of swedge on the spine.
It's a much cleaner looking blade IMO but I'm just not a big tanto fan so didn't go for one. The point is "thicker" on the tanto but the over all width is obviously the same on both blades. The zero bevel grind forming the point on the tanto is resposible for that extra "meat" near the point.

The swedge on the back of the spear point version dosn't really throw out a great amount of sparks from a fero rod. It is enough to get a fire going if you have a nice fluffy tinder ball though.
