I just got my first Zing from Kershawguy. Zing Tanto Black Blade 1735TBLK Limited Ed. Very cool knife! What else am I missing?

In terms of Zings, there are the drop point models. They come in black and orange handles with the blade striations (really look good IMO). There was also a damascus drop point (like a rare Pokemon). The tanto has a beadblast variant and a DLC green handle variant. Then, there's the all-steel import with Speedsafe. I hope I a) got them all and b)understood your question correctly.

The green-handled one is actually G10 (not FRN). Picked up one of those from kershawguy (blem) and put a drop point grooved blade in it.

Nice. I haven't brought myself to pull the trigger on one yet, but I do love the looks and the blade styles.

Nice score. I got one in a trade recently and I really like how they feel.

Oh, boy... now I can really piss off the wife when all these knives start showing up at the door! The Blur was my drug of choice until I stumbled on the Zing L.E. I am not a huge tanto style blade lover, but I like the black on black and still made in the USA. I do NEED a Zing with the striations!

I really like that one. Tanto blades are a favorite of mine. I have an orange with the blade striations and it flips really nice. Good score.

There is also a tanto combo edge version.

I have all of them except that, the orange one and the damascus one.

How about the orange damascus one? ;)

Seriously though, I love the zings, and honestly prefer them to skylines. Sad to see the US model discontinued, everybody get your hands on one while you still can!

Without taking the thread too far off topic, can you expound on this sentiment a bit?

Steel liner on both sides, a more ergonomic grip, and the flipper seems to be consistently more "crisp". I have handled some great flipping skylines, but every single zing I have touched flies open as soon as you overcome the detent.

Ok I have the Damascus skyline, the red stonewashed, and an OD tanto zing blem. My skylines both flip open effortlessly with zero wrist action. My zing will not flip more than maybe 2/3 of the way open without flicking my wrist as well. Is mine not right?

Edit: wanted to add that overall I also prefer the zing to the skyline, but in my very limited experience it doesn't seem a better flipper at all. Maybe I need to buy another zing to find out!

All of mine (I have 5) have a much stronger detent than any of my skylines. I feel like I have to use a specific motion to open a skyline smoothly, but the zings fly out as soon as I press hard enough to overcome the "sticky" detent, much like the early 0560s.

I love my OD Green Zing blem. It's the first tanto shaped blade that I've actually liked.

I do find that I have to give mine a slight wrist flick to get the blade all the way out when I flick it.

A question for the folks with grooved Zing blades, do the grooves get in the way at all when you resharpen?

Pretty sure the standard Zing is still readily available. Just pick one up and start your collection.

I concur with S.O. on this. I have had a fair share of zings. I only have an od handled striated one left like Flarps and a modded custom blue black g10 polished liners and clip tanto. The striated versions I have owned all have awesome detent making them fly out like an A/O and thwack with authority. The tanto's I have owned have been hit or miss with strong detent. Although half of those were blems.
