Tap with electric screwdriver ?

You can buy a little drill chuck at the hardware store that fits in the electric screwdriver and you chuck the tap up in the drill chuck. Works great and if you dip the tap in oil every time you tap a hole you hardly ever break a tap.

I have been using the drill and tap method for the last 5 years. Kit Carson was the person that recommended it and it works great. I pretty much use .080 screws and like Mike said if you dip the tap on every pass I hardly ever break a tap. I went to my local machine shop store and ordered mine. It was made by Jacobs if that helps. If I remember right it was like $15 dollars. I had to wait about a week to get it but its well worth it.

I use a variable speed cordless Makita with a keyless chuck
I think it's a lot faster than a tapping head for just a hole or two
at a time. yeahup use taping oil.:)

I use a Proxon screwdriver..........comes with a chuck.......it is wonderful. Not cordless however........but it has a 6 setting torque adjustment and the batteries never go dead. They cost about $85 and are very well made...........Looks to me like it will last forever.
