Does anyone know where I can get some information (Books or DVD's) on Tapado or Filipino staff methods?

Hey Paul,

At about 50" Tapado technique is different from most Filipino staff technques because these staffs are longer and used more like you would use a spear. Tapado is generally used with both hands on one end - in "baseball bat" fashion.

Plenty of tapado clips on YouTube. These are mostly from the "original" group that represents the style of GM Romeo "Nono" Mamar. Mike Vasquez of the "Modified" Tapado group has a DVD and book out:

Doce Pares also has a tapado curriculum and I believe that their is seminar footage of GM Danny Guba demonstrating tapado at a U.K. seminar several years ago.

Ron Harris learned tapado is featured on one of the Dog Brothers' tapes.

San Miguel Eskrima has some ananangkil (tapado) drills but these use a very heavy stick and are more designed to teach attributes.

Best,

Steve Lamade

tapado generally falls into the double handed sets of Filipino weaponry...depending on the system it is really a simple set or art.

I guess I should have specified Long Staff FMA's Pahtoocara the FMA Digest Issue is what piqued my interest. I am going to get the Dog Brothers DVD and Master Vasquez's books.
