Im sure this has been asked here before but I didn't get much luck on my search and keep getting contradicting information online. Small end up or down? Down seems to make sense to me for wedge room but id love to hear some opinions. I've hung other hatchet but none of them were tapered..

Forgot to mention its a tear drop shaped eye

In the overwhelming number of circumstances the larger end should be up top, smaller on the bottom. The only circumstances where that isn't the case is with some Nordic socketed axes and the orientation on those is pretty obvious.
