I've been reading as much info as I can get my mouse on about tapering tangs and grinding in distal tapers... If you do both it would make the knife thickest in the center(at the plunge) and shaped like a long diamond? , is this correct?? and what is the best way to go about doing this evenly??? thanks for the help:confused:

You are correct, it would have a long diamond shape, the way I keep it even is to scribe a center line with my calipers around the profile of the entire knife then scribe a second and third line of the thickness I want to grind down to.

A possible exception to the long diamond shape would be a dead flat and parallel (rectalinear) ricasso dividing two extended triangles.

If it was easy, what fun would it be? The real challenge is to make it even, straight and have your sanity left. I love this stuff !!!!;) :D
