Hey there,
I'm asking to tap a tim galyean turbulence for tip up carry, is it possible to make a low carry clipf or it as well? :)
Thanks!

Two things stand out to me immediately with that model. One the end toward the lanyard kind of narrows and a low rider would likely have to be folded over short of burying the knife due to the fact that the stem would likely block the lanyard hole, and if I took it too far it appears it would overhang off the knife sooner due to the curve of the handle before reaching the end of the folder so I'd have to fold it sooner to make it look right on the knife I think. Small obstacle here though as it has enough room on the end to allow a stem to slip up there and fold over for the 180 from the looks of it.

Second and perhaps the biggest obstacle is the lock cut which is on the outside on that model. While there are many knives with tip up and lock cuts on the outside, (Strider PT for one) there have been issues with that where that ledge for the lock cut gets wedged in the lip of the pocket by the clip spring pressure. This causes it to hang up at times on the pocket as its being slid back in the pocket or pulled back out. At times there have been reports of these catching well enough to cause the user to actually drop their knife. A shorter clip that doesn't go clear down past the lock cut would be best but the draw back to that is the loss of a lock block of sorts to keep from over extending the lock out the wrong way during a heated moment. It appears the clip on there now acts as a lock block stabalizer of sorts and your new one would likely not be as effective in tip up.

As for if it can be done? Yes it is quite possible to fashion a clip to fit it for tip up carry. One would have to navigate these road blocks to make it work as well as hoped though.

Oh my that seems to be quite the trouble. Would you suggest that it would be easier to just create a low-rider for tip down carry rather than attempt at creating a low-rider for tip up?
Seeing how you've it is possible for a low-rider for tip-up... I plead for you to take the job. ;)
As for the lock stop, I'm not too worried with that, if I had a choice I would rather have it than not but seeing how it may hinder the ability to put the knife in my pocket and may possibly cause me to drop it, it may not be 100 % necessary. Let me know how you feel STR, :) I'd be fine with ordering a tip down carry clip but would definitely rather have a tip up carried knife.

Its probably not going to be any worse than doing the clip flip to tip up carry for the JYD II model. I've managed to navigate a few of those with clips but they've been standard style clips not low riders. If you are open to allowing me creative license to do what it takes to get you a tip up carry option I can probably come up with something and it may or may not be a low rider. If thats what you want I'll shoot for it but if after doing it I don't like it you may end up with a standard clip also. It just depends on what I think once I try it in my pocket. The position of the stem of the clip can be different from one to the other and quite honestly a standard style clip would allow the stem to go down and cover more of the lock to hopefully give some lock block double duty action for you. Its not a big deal there but its always something I keep in mind because there have been times when folks have pushed the locks out too far the wrong way on those thinned down lock cut model frame locks when the clips have been removed.

Hm,
I don't mind a non-low rider clip as long as it's not a huge portion of the knife that's showing. Let me know what you think, I definitely don't mind you being creative, as far as I'm concerned, you're the best at this.

Hey, just wondering if I could just go ahead and send the galyean off to you! :)

Thanks STR!

Sure. Just fill out and print off the work order form from my low rider clip sticky thread top the page and once done mail at your convenience. Thanks my friend

Got the Turbulence in the mail just a bit ago. I'll have to get to it this afternoon and see what I can come up with for your clip flip. I'll be in touch.

Took me two tries but I got one on it the second try that I like.
This is a really nice knife! I'm glad you allowed me to do this using the original holes so no permanent mods were done to it. I dreaded the thought of drilling and threading new holes in this one!
