militech-1....had to write it first before i forgot it...as i had to go out to my shop and check the name...costs a bunch (around 30 per pint...but works unbelievable..) its a synthetic oil i got from my friend who is the pd armorer....i used to have five different cutting fluids for all types of things...now i only use this....you should check it out...its the mil spec stuff the army uses on their m16s i think.when i first got it i put a few drops on a dull 1/2 drill bit and drilled right thru a 1/4" piece of 154cm....the stuff adheres into the metal.. it is a very good product....i put about 8 ounces of it in my car when i change the oil. as soon as i get the courage to start drinking an oz a day ill let you know how good it works on people.

Darrel,
I like Tap Magic for all steels and Ti. Also Cool Tool 2 is good for Ti. The best thing for REALY tough stuff is a mixing pure, illegal, osha banned........ Tri Chlor to the Tap Magic!! This stuff might even make it possible to tap Talonite!

111-tri is hard to find. Unless you are close to Mexico where they smuggle it in. I would try some chlorinated paraffin with the compound. It also brings chlorine (in a non hazardous way) to the mix.

Incidently Darell, I talked to one guy that had Tapped Talonite, he said they get carbide taps made up in 3 incrimentally bigger sizes for one hole. He says it cost a fortune for the taps and he sweats every time he uses them!

Tom, some good Irish whiskey will lube up the insides just fine!

Cool Tool 2 but if needed and no tapping fluid is available use Dove Dish Washing Soap. It's also bio-degradibleand will work fine.

We always used beeswax mixed with dark cutting oil for tapping, drilling and cutting the nasty stuff . My shop made parts for autoclaves.
They had many copper parts in them..
I hear folks having problems turning copper..
We used the same mix , just a bit on your finger wipe a small amount on the part and it made broken chips...instead of long nasty strings.. I have never tried milk..
