What kind of tapping fluid do all you makers use? I just tried Castrol Moly-Dee taping fluid and it is the weirdest stuff I ahve ever used. It is really thick and sticky, kinda grey brown and hard to see through. Although it is hard to see where the ends of the threads are on your tap, but it cuts like butter with this stuff on it!! From what i have read its not the nicest stuff for you as far as soaking nto your skin and such but I have never had ANYTHING tap Ti and stainless like this stuff...

What do you all use?

Cool Tool II. Been using it for years. My fave. I even have quenched in it. Smells okay too. :p

I use tap magic, I like it. It is thin enough to get deep into the flutes on a tap and does not make lot of mess. I can also use it on drills and endmills, basically any cutting application.

Kerosene or spermosene :o ( 50% ATF which is artificial sperm whale oil according to the guy who invented "Ed's Red and 50% Kerosene)

I use to use tap-free all the time
in the Machine shop 20 plus years ago..
I loved it
it's getting hard to get it's got some no no's in it.
I'm using rapid tap right now,
