Here's the latest in my Combat Series. Since there are some who want to use a knife as a prybar, I chose to build the prybar into the knife. So this one is for prying, or digging, or even just using as a knife. The prototype here has a 6-1/2" 154CM blade a with Black Canvas Micarta handle and a checkered hammering surface at the butt. OAL is 12-1/2".

Show here is the left side of the blade. The 1/2" wide prybar tapers into the forward edge, to allow it to slide under whatever is to be pried. Top and bottom edges are both sharp.

And here is the right side of the blade, with a chisel grind at the front for wedging into whatever you need to pry, or dig, or poke. Total weight is 12 oz. and the balance point is at the rear of the guard.

Thanks David. Most of these will be made in S30V and CPM-3V. I usually do my prototypes in 154CM, since it is easier to refine the shapes post hardening.

leave it to Hossom to think out side the box.

Has any one ever done anything like this before?

Excellent as usual

Jerry,

You have my attention with that one! Very nice and very different:cool:

I'm not one of those guys that needs a knife that also works as a prybar. Even so, I really like this knife. Very nice lines.

Really nice - I find myself suffering from lust. Weird, I don't even own any fixed blade knives.

Run credit cards, run................

that is one very nice looking knife...Are we going to see you at this years B.A.K.C.A?...thanks for making me drool on my keyboard...my wife will not believe me when I tell her it was from some fine lines...on a knife

Beautiful knife Jerry. A very lovely and diverse tool.

Being that I'm a former Jarhead I can also appreciate the name. For those that may not know, the battle for Tarawa was one of the most vicous battles that the Marines ever fought. The conflict took place as a prelude to D-Day. By noon of the day of the invasion all of the 1,500 Marines that had been dispatched were either pinned down or wounded. A time when real Heros stepped forward. Amphibious Assault - OOh- Rah. I urge everyone to do a quick search on the net and learn more about this fierce battle.

Sweeet! Any chance of seeing one without the beak on the tail - more of a rounded pommel?

Kevin

Spark, are you reading my mind? I was thinking the same, but did not want to risk the wrath of Mr. Hossom hisself!;)
