What do you use for throwing targets? Do you make your own? What type of materials do you use? Are you like me, using whatever is available, such as a dead tree in the woods, or cardboard boxes stuffed with newspapers/rags? I'm obviously an amateur, so what do you pros in the audience prefer?

I am not a pro, but I use tree rounds for knives and hawks, although the hawks chew 'em up pretty fast...

For some of the more expensive throwing implements I use cardboard boxes. I slice them into matching pieces and tape them together. This is a rather soft target and won't last long but it is not so hard on the knives.

I stopped by a local lumber dealer and picked up a couple 2X6 scraps. Tacked them together on the backside, my son painted a picture of Harry Potter on the front and we were all set. :)

Hi,

Rounds of pine tree - about 1 foot in diameter, and about 4 inches thick.

Can mount 3 or 4 of them on a large board to give several targets.

They are soft enough to not damage your knives, but still make a good THUNK when you get it right!
