what do y'all use for targets? for those of you that have built one, plz explain (in detail) what you did. i have to leave the trees alone :(

Here is one I made works great. The target itself is 2 x 4 cedar on edge and the stand is 4 x 4 treated.

Where I live, we have a wood mill where they buy raw logs to cut up to make wood handles for tools. Shovels, axes, pick-axes, and the like. One of the by-products of this are lots and lots of log ends that are about 6 - 12 inches thick and 24 inches in diameter, and work great as targets. A little spray paint for a bullseye and rings, a 2X4 frame to hold it up and you're all set.

i used 2x4 pine scraps in a very similar fashion, though i put them flat side-on. i screwed or nailed (can't remember) the bottom of each board through one that ran behind them all and then made legs for support.

if you can find a warehouse that has pallets stacked out back, they might give you one. some of them can have boards neatly packed together.

Used an exterior glue and then caped off the ends with another 2 x 4 which I ran a few screws down into the ends. This is the third one that I an on they work great....

Dusty One, that is a really well made target. i like it a lot. you are a carpenter ill bet. i use pine rounds for my targets, but i think i will try your target. again, very nice work.....

Bobby it works great just replaced the cedar. Here is one of yours sticking in it....
