i like to throw myself. here is my set up.

Great Looking Target!! How often do you have to replace the wood? I have been using 2x12 and found them to be unsatisfactory. I just made a smaller target from 4x10 and hope that it hangs together 3x to 4x as long as the 2 inch thick boards.

hello freak...lol....
like your screen name, i am a closet freak show.
this one is 2x6 beam off a construction site. its about ate thru. i was lucky enough to get 4 of these.
if i threw only knifes at it, its life would be longer, but when you start hitting it with axes, hatchets and shovels...it chews it up fast.

i got a new target i am working on(planning stage till it warms up) and if it works out, it could be the mother of targets! replaceable center!

Very nice and neatly built target. Is that bamboo in the background? where are you that it grows so well.?

Nice.

I made a 6+ by about 3 foot wide target out of 4x4's. It lasted about a season before the center had a hole in it. I might chainsaw it, rebuild it into two smaller sections. Just cut out the torn out middle.

Cross grain just does not absorb hits or stick as well as end grain (like a stump cut).

south central louisiana. i thought bamboo was cool.....till i had some. it grows wild and tries to sneak everywhere. i have declared WAR on my bamboo.
that pic is on the back of my properity, from there its only maybe 50 yards down to a bayou, it stays damp there, perfect for bamboo and critters.

With my luck a miss would lose my knife forever in that bushel. Very nice target set up. Does the chain ever end up breaking and dropping
the wood?
