I got to try my hand at hawk throwing the other day and I'm hooked. I have a pair of hawks on the way and will probably order a few more in the near future. My problem is, what do I use for a target. We used a tree round when I was throwing the other day but it was old and busted into 5 pieces and i dont have another one available. Is there a good way to glue up some 2x4s to use? Any ideas?

I have seen plans for a 2x4 target made by gluing and nailing 2x4s together in a laminated fashion. I just bought a round of Poplar from a lumber mill.

Here is one I put together. The target is cedar 2x4 and the stand is treated 4 x 4...Works great and I can break it down easy.

That's a darn nice stand you got there, D1. You're apt to make a man jealous, though, by showing off you've got two VTacs... haha

Yes I used a construction adhesive and clamped the 2 x 4's together. Didnt want any nails in it. Anything that is weather proof. I used Dap Beats the Nail Adhesive.

The hawk throwing session my wife and I attended had a stack of palm tree cut-off sections about 1-2 feet long, stacked so that the cut ends were the target area... easy to stick, easy on the hawks, too...
