Hi all, I haven't seen this question posed, but does anyone have an idea of how these tariffs will affect Taiwan-made Spydercos?

Cheers & Happy Friday!

Google brought up a very vague 32% tariff of Taiwan > USA imports, but different products have different tariffs.

I wonder if there won't be some odd exemptions in cases like this. Spyderco is an American company, and they do a large amount of their manufacturing in the US. If Apple can get an exemption, I don't see why Spyderco can't. If not, maybe they can get some incentives to expand manufacturing here.

I don't think anyone will pay attention to Spyderco and exemptions.

Taiwan and Japan are OK. They are both friendly trading partners. They've not been a problem. China, on the other hand is being very challenging and we hope it gets sorted sooner than later. We're still bringing in product from China to serve our customers, but it's not something we can do forever. Many companies are holding their shipments (in China) on Chinese made products because of the high tariffs.

Hi Buffalohump,

Don't know yet. The "dust" from the "Dust-up" hasn't settled yet.

Hi Sal!

OK thanks, I was wondering.... have always enjoyed those Taiwanese-made knives. Although I will say my newest, the USA-made BBB 15V Military, is just perfecto! 👌
