Hey guys, Just got an mwave the other day, love it, anyway, I used it to to peel an orange the other day at work and now I have a rather large stain or smudge if you will on the blade. Ive tried rinsing it off and no dice, still there, it looks as if the juice actually ate at the blade coating. I knew it probably wasnt a good idea to cut that damn orange but Id like to know if Ill be able to get that smudge off or no. If not, Ill live, but If I could clean it off somehow Id like to. Any ideas? Thanks.

I cut up a lime with a Persian the other day and it stained the blade also. i tried water, water and soap, IPA and methanol but it didnt budge at all. short of removing the coating its going to be there untill it weres off i suppose.
I wouldnt worry too much though, you probably wont even notice it after a few weeks/months of use.

Yeah, just do what I did. USe your emerson to cut acoustic ceiling tiles. That finish won't last long. My boss said, "Oh, you just ruined your hundred dollar knife" to which I replied, "nah, those are just love marks, emersons are made to use the piss out of em!!"
So now only 3/4's of my mini comm is bts, and the tip is satin!!

it is just patina, and is almost certainly just a surface stain. citrus acid will do that to quite a few metals.

just take a little flitz or mother's on a rag and polish it out.

is it the edge? or the blade?

should mention that if you have a bead blasted finish, any polish will alter the look. and you may end up polishing the whole thing to get a consistent finish.

if its just the edge, nothing to worry about. polish away!

I cant speak for JM but mine was the flats on the blade, the actual edge is fine. It just made the black finish kind of look blacker where the juice contacted the blade.

+1, on the the flat coating. Where can I get Flitz? Ive never heard of it.

any hardware or auto parts store should carry it.

if you cant find flitz, mothers metal polish is pretty much the same stuff.
