This is most likely old news to alot of you here but what the heck.

I used this setup a few weeks ago for a long weekend and it held up really well. Kept me mostly dry in a light rain. It's just a 10'X8' tarp.

I set it up in the back yard with an el-cheapo tarp for the kids to play in and figured i'd shoot some pics.

Nice and roomy really. Be a bit cramped for two but for just me and my gear it worked well.

One pole, one cord, coverage on three sides. . . What's not to love!

Good job and that..... good color choice to blend in the woods.

Thanks!
I think I will try this setup this weekend.

Hey Shotgunner11... be careful with that setup when the weather warms up down here. The fire-ants may pick you up and carry you away while you sleep!:D

Here is a site I found a while back... everything you ever wanted to know about tarp shelters and more... enjoy. http://www.equipped.org/tarp-shelters.htm

One of the things I forgot a few times using tarps that you still have to deal with condensation sometimes. You think that big open front should take care of it but lifting up the down sides just a wee bit, will help alot with some air flow.

Tarps certainly are versatile! A suggestion would be to make the peak height just a little taller than you are when comfortably seated. Unless your super tall, this will widen out the pitch, giving you more room to spread out. Also it may lessen the angle of pitch a bit giving you a little more tautness, and a little more wind resistance.

Take a set of foam earplugs! Half pyramid type pitches while being very weather and wind worthy, tend to hum and flutter along the bent ridges.

I use several similar pitches with an 8x10 but I sleep in it lengthwise.:)

This setup is sort of a flying V with an extra sideI could tell you how its setup but its a secret:D It sheds wind just like it looks like it would:D

Thanks for the info, I'll play around and tweek my setup a bit.

Hey there shotgunner, nice layout. After I put one up today I had some students come by and ask how I put it up. It was real quick to show them and explain. Thanks

The one in the pics is still going strong in the backyard. 3 days now, but were having a bit of a windstorm here tonight so I'm looking forward to seeing it in the morning.
