I just ordered a Tarwar Sword from the HI website. Does anyone know if it will look exactly like the one in the picture on the website? I've seen many different looking Tarwars on this forum so am wondering if they just make one and send u a random Tarwar. Does anyone have any preference over a wooden handle or the yak horn handle?

Where do they get the DOTD knives and swords? Are they better or different from the standard ones from the website?

From what I've seen DOTD blades are blems as listed or just good deals. Same awesome quality as the rest, just lower priced, more unusual runs also.

DOTD's are 'spec' built, AKA they're handmade without a custom order already placed, and sold for typically less than standard price on the forum. They may or may not be blems, typically not, though the blems get really popular because you can pick up a really nice user with typically just a small cosmetic issue. DOTD's are posted almost daily on here around noon. If you want any chance of getting your hands on one, read the DOTD thread so that you know how to pick one up. Many a sorry bloke has frequented the DOTD posts and expect to pick up a deal, only to find out that they didn't get it because they didn't follow the instructions. All of them are handmade, and by different Kamis, so they will all be different to some degree. I have HI blades with rosewood, neem and horn handles and all are very beautiful, durable and easy to maintain. Never had so much as a dent or a scratch put into the handle.

Ok thanks, I ordered the Tarwar from their website. Yangdu said that they expect the shipment to come in soon from Nepal. I hope it is what I expect it to be. This is my first time ordering from HI. All of their stuff looks great and has many positive reviews.

sorry. no.

do not "expect".

specify. you pretty much have custom control. you need to say what you want, and Yangdu, in her magical wisdom, can make it so.

want something specific? send her a picture. lengths, weights, etc.

otherwise, you get whatever they send to her.

I'm sure you could ask Yangdu to try and pick out something as close as possible to what you want, with the obvious caveats that she's a busy woman, and she's limited to what's in the shipment.

Ok thanks guys. I sent her a pic of another Tarwar that I found online. It looked like it had I guess a Chiruwa style wood handle.

Warm welcome to the HI and Fourm, Kazushi
The Tarwar shipments from Nepal is in the air.
I will ship your order as soon as shipment arrives here.

could someone give some info on how these tarwars are zone hardened?

what part of the blades are harder and which parts are softer?
