I want to do a military giveaway with one of my Tasker model EDC/utility knives, and am looking for a military recipient who is deployed, or deploying in the immediate future, who will put it to good use. I am very grateful for the support of my military customers and am working hard to earn your business and see to it that you guys can afford dependable, practical and hard working knives to deploy with.

If you or a family member are currently serving in the U.S military, are deployed or soon to be deploying, and could use a good utility knife, you qualify. My only requirement beyond the above is some kind of verification that the knife is going to an active duty servicemember. A faxed copy of a current military ID, and/or an FPO/APO address to ship to, are sufficient to verify.

I am going to leave this open to responses for 48 hours. At 2:00 GMT on Wednesday I will enter the qualifying names into a pot and let my 6 year old son draw a name. I will then verify that individual and ship the knife to them. To enter, reply to this thread with your first name and last initial, or that of the family member you are entering for. We are a military family and are grateful beyond words for those who serve, and thier families, who serve and sacrifice in their own way. Thank you.

The promotional stuff:

The Tasker model is a compact and lightweight utility/EDC design made with Crucible's cpm3v tool steel, making it easy to carry but very tough and capable of withstanding abuse. The toughness of this steel allows a thin cutting edge that is extremely resiststant wear and damage, offering hard-use performance that I believe is unmatched by anything else currently availible. This model is especially well-suited to precise, technical tasks and is a safer and more reliable alternative to a folder in high stress situations, and under heavy use. It's compact size, light weight, and multiple carry options make this the knife that goes everywhere with you, increasing it's useability simply by putting it in the right place at the right time. The sheath retains the knife securely in any position but allows one-handed draw and re-sheathing.

Specs:
7-3/4" overall, .160" thick cpm3v, HT'd by Peter's to hrc 59-60
3-1/2" blade, high flat grind, thumb jimping and rounded spine
OD green G10 scales with black G10 liners
Assembled with West Systems G-Flex Epoxy and flared stainless tubing
Finish is hand rubbed to 400 grit and bead blasted with fine media
.080" OD green Kydex sheath with QD carry clip and Molle Lok included
Knife weighs approx. 4.5 oz., under 7 oz carry weight with pre-tensioned clip installed.

I'm surprised I haven't seen more responses. I'm not military so I'm not sure what they are allowed or not allowed to bring, but if you can qualify for this blade and can take it with you where you are deployed, I highly recommend it. I have the PFK and the design, steel and F&F are all top notch. The steel is easy to sharpen and takes a frighteningly fine edge.

Good luck to all, thank you for your service and good luck with this blade!

I'm a little surprised by the lack of response myself. This may not be the best venue for this, but I thought it was worth a shot. If there are no takers here in the next 26 hours, I have other channels I will use to get this done. I hope to do something like this once or twice a year so what I learn here will be useful one way or the other. If any qualified persons are more comfortable contacting me by PM or email that works too.

Ok, I have 2 names in the pot so far. I'm glad we can get this done here, I would hate to think it's that difficult to give one of my knives away!

Jk hey man just forwarded this link to a member who is deployed, i think its the evening over there perhaps. any way, what is the cutoff date/hour for entry?

edit: just skimmed and missed that part. ok got it

I'll enter him under your username, if he is drawn we can worry about verifying him then.

Hey, I just got Clich's PM. I'm currently deployed to Camp Taji, Iraq. I'm a Specialist, active duty, US Army Soldier and an Air Traffic Controller. My daily tasks consist of setting up and tearing down equipment as well as random odd jobs around the FOB, both light duty and heavy duty, i.e. hanging camo netting. I have been deployed since February in support of Operation New Dawn and will be here for the full year, plenty of time to give that knife the service it deserves. I appreciate the opportunity, and am very gracious for you support, friend!

That is a beautiful knife. It would be well loved and well used, brother! Thanks again for the consideration and support.

Be Blessed.

Thanks for your service guys, and thanks for entering my giveaway! I want to bump this up, 8 more hours to enter!

I am in the military but am not deploying anytime soon that I am aware of so I am not eligble, but it is awsome that you are doing this so I would like to say thanks for your support.

I want to thank you for your service, deployed or not. I'd give these away until you all had one if I could afford to. Since you do not qualify for this giveaway, I will give you a smokin' deal if you want to purchase one of these and will make the next giveaway open to any active duty.

Very nice gesture - I am sure it will be greatly appreciated by the lucky recipient.

I'm going to do a last check of PM's and emails to be sure there are no last minute entries. I won't keep you guys in suspense much longer...

The winner is gundude73, who entered for his cousin. I will get the arrangements made and get this shipped off to him.

I want to thank the rest of you guys again for your service, and will do this again when I can. I'm glad to be able to do this as long as I am able and am proud to have you guys carrying my knives.

I'm going to offer an extra discount to any active duty military on this model until Fri., deployed or not. This is in addition to my usual discount for active duty and you won't get a better deal on one of these until I give another one away.

Jarod, we already have a deal worked out and if you want to go ahead with that I can get it into the works for you soon so you can use it during your deployment.

Thanks again for entering and I wish all of you guys the best, take care!
Justin
