Tasman Salt Inquiry

Hello, to all my fellow 'Knife Brothers' out there.
I have a dilemma regarding the Spyderco Tasman Salt that I recently purchased.
It came in the 'grey, with web box' and has the C106PBK - Tasman Salt sticker on end.
It is one of the ones with Tasman Salt & Spider on blade vs. the newer ones with the H1.
The spyderco H-1 and the Seki-City Japan tang stamps are there, but they seem to be
more of an etch, than how my other spidies are stamped.
This has made me question it's authenticity.
-I realize that i could send it in to Spyderco for validation, but i thought i would get some
input from collectors who own this model, and can offer any info.
Thanks, B.T.B.

Can't really say without pictures

If the clip is straight to the tip and not spoon like Im sure its just an older one. Never seen a fake salt before myself.

Thanks, dericdesmond, although i am not sure what you mean.

I'm having trouble adding pictures from my P.C. and when I visit the FAQ section, It displays 'cannot display webpage'
...any help ?

*If anyone has an older version Tasman, and are willing to post a close-up picture or can comment on the etch and/or
the tang stamps on theirs, I would appreciate.
*None of my other Spidies have "I" instead of the "l" in the SEKl - ClTY.

Thanks again.

This should help with the pics
I used PhotoBucket today, and it worked fine.

These steps have always worked before:

Posting Pictures - Photobucket

Open a free account at www.photobucket.com (or some other free web-hosting site)

"Upload" pictures from your computer/device to your Photobucket account using Photobucket "browse" button.

In your Photobucket "library" locate a picture you want to post here, and left click on it.

A menu of links will appear to the lower right.

Clicking on the IMG link will do a "copy" of the link.

In a post to this thread, use "paste" to put the IMG link in the post. The picture will then appear to everyone.

On Bladeforums, only paid members can upload pictures directly from their computers.

Here's a picture with the two different style clips as dericdesmond is describing

...Another difference I spotted is the handle emblem does not show "CLlPlT" - It has a dash between (CLlP-lT)
unlike my other CLlPlT Spidies.

*I know theres plenty of Spidie Hawkbill owners out there....could use some input, Thanks :)

...What about the inconsistancies that I spotted,
and the pictures make the tang prints look like a deeper stamp, than they actually appear on the blade tang.
Have you ever seen SEKl-ClTY printed like SEKI-CITY (w/the lines over the l's)
Also, the JAPAN does not line up underneath like my others either... -?

The "inconsistencies" are consistent with the H1 models.

There are likely going to be differences in spacing of stamps, lettering etc among different models produced in many factories and different production runs but my Tasman Salt has exactly the same lettering (serif I, SEKI CITY, hyphenated CLIP-IT) you are talking about and I know it is legit.

If you are worried about buying fakes I would focus on buying from legitimate dealers vs online auctions, yard sales, etc. You may not get huge bargains but it sounds like the peace of mind would be worth it to you.

A quick trip through google images shows the Tasman Salt has on the handle "Clip-it" with the dash.

But yeah as Rycen said, it's legit. I can't say for sure on the etching, but there are too many small things that are correct with that knife to be a fake.
