Recommendation? Tasman Salt vs Spyderhawk

I am looking into getting a hawkbill and these are the two that are catching my attention the most. The intended use is stripping insulation off large gauge wires (so PE not SE) and general utility. I was really favoring the Tasman since I like the Delica but I'm not sure about the grind for this use since it isn't FFG. The Spyderhawk definitely has a cool factor but it also seems like it would be too big and not allow for precision. Any suggestions welcome.

The Spyderhawk is bigger than I'm interested in. The Tasman is perfect as its Delica or Harpy size. Its sharp.

What about a Harpy? Its VG10 steel.

I do not want stainless steel handle. Also I just noticed that the Super hawk is VG-10... I would like to try H1 work hardening steel... Hm

IMHO, to strip wire insulation, a wharncliffe is better as it allows for more precision. I used to do a lot of coaxial & CAT-5 cable stripping and used a normal bellied PE blade or an utility razor/boxcutter (straight PE edge). Held & bent the cable, push cut carefully from the outer side of the bent. This way, the insulation will separate and risk of notching individual strand inside is reduced.

Delica in wharncliffe may be most suitable, even in VG10.

The ‘work hardening’ notion of H1 has been discussed without conclusion, in regards to effect from the manual sharpening.

I don't understand why you would want a softer steel for a knife like that? I understand the anti rust properties for construction, I understand wanting to just try H1.

I have used 1095 quite a bit for a hard use utility knife and I like it because it's easy to sharpen. I'm just trying to understand.

I love my Tasman Salt but I'm not sure how I feel about plain edge H1. H1 in general almost feels like untreated steel at times. It takes very little to dull it or to bend the tip. Serrated has worked better for me over the years. It's a great knife though and small enough to give you a good bit of control over the point. I carry one fairly often as a secondary.

I have eyed the wharny Delica too, i just wish they'd do a different steel (ZDP?). I actually do have a wharncliffe that I use for now but wanted to try a concave blade.

Maybe they will make ZDP one day.

Hollow grind wouldn’t make any difference for the cable stripping but feel free to try. ;)
