Just spent a week in Tasmania.... :) First few days were work but then I took four days off and hired a little Nissan Xtrail and took myself touring... :) I could very easily live down here. Wages are an issue, I would take @50-60% pay cut in the same business to move tehre, cost of living is MUCH lower of course, a real balancing act to be sure..!!!!!

Started in Hobart....

Spent lots of time here ..

And had a spectacular meal here...

If you are familiar with "Sea Shepard" this is one of the boats they use to harass the Japanese whaling fleet...

Heading out of Hobart and north for a bit...

Part of the Hydro Electric Scheme...

Lake St Claire..

We are still in Australia after all....

One prepared earlier...

Still heading across the State to the West Coast...

In Strathan...

The cottage I had for the night...

Heading North East and to Cradle Mountain Nat Park..

Cradle Mountain NP... lots of pics from here as I loved it !!

Only a little blade on this trip ;)

A couple of the locals... I ended up laying in the grass for about 25mins till they kept wandering over...

Heading across the north of the state and back to the East Coast... one of the little known industries here, Opium Poppy Production for the pharmaceutical industry..

Lake Leake...one of the premium trout fishing locations in Tassie...

East Coast heading south...

Devils Arch...

Looking soooooouth....

All these are around the Port Arthur site...

On the water looking toward Antarctica (that is the next land you hit from here)...

I love sandstone !!!

What remains of The Broad Arrow Cafe...

And part of the memorial to the events here in 1996.... :(

A little further south and around the bottom of the state...

The trip just confirmed what I had suspected for many years, that I would love Tasmania....and that I need to go back...!!!!

Great pictures Andy. So beautiful. Thank you. Definitely would love to visit Tasmania (maybe for a long, long time) in the not too distant future. Mike

Very cool pics! I gotta say those wombats are some cute little critters

I had all but forgotten about that Whale Wars show. God those guys annoyed me

Will need to go back to Tassie and get to Cradle Mountain NP this time!

I like Japan a lot, but I'm also very happy to see people sticking it to their whaling fleet.
