Besides the great ergos, what really hooked me to the Subcomfolders are their *impressively* sharp factory edges.....1st time a used one to cut some cardboard, I had to do the double take, coz it was "like butta"... :)
I believe the blades are full flat ground and the edge bevel is very acute...sorry no calipers......but these "biscuits" are incredible slicing machines....
The Subclaw arrived "just the other day" and predictably, it met and exceeded all my expectations..... Love jimping on the spine for ultimate control of this razorsharp "raptor's toenail"... :)
Thanks to Chad and Boker for another outstanding collab....it looks like you've got another winner on your hands... ;)
THe Subclaw should bring satisfaction to any diehard hawkbill fan (even JDSpydo :p) or for those who want to try an affordable hawkbill just to "test the waters" :) I believe the Subcom series (in general) delivers superior *slicing* performance in a non threatening/NKP-friendly package... perfect for my office edc and "suburban carry"... they remind me of a wolf in sheep's clothing ;):p
Some pix...pardon the lint near the tang... :o

LOL :D hey Mike hope you have a merry Christmas.... and I hope you're not dulling your tools on that Ipe ... :p:)

Nah.... Wasn't too bad. Gotta do the finish, then I'll get some pics up.. :)

Now to hijack your thread.... :D Here's some more tastey SubClaw pics

Merry Christmas, everyone!

I was also amazed the first time I cut down some cardboard with my SF. The thin blade helps a lot to allow the blade to travel thru with less friction.

Potterma - you make the most amazing scales! I gotta contact you sometime about something for one of my CLB knives (once funds come back in the front door...seems someone left the back door open).

Potterma's got all the exotic wood fixin's for biscuit pimping... I can't wait to see those Ipe pix Mike ;)
Showing off a lanyard a pal from Australia gave me for Christmas :)

You guys are evil. Not semi-evil, not quasi-evil...but pure evil. ;o)
My wallet grows lighter by the minute...

How is that Subclaw for general cutting duties? I have never tried a "hawkbill."

Evil, evil, evil. I ordered my Subclaw the other day and I'm still eagerly waiting for it to arrive.

It's 2 in the morning and I feel the need to check my mailbox.

Its great for opening package materials; thick cardboard nasty shellclamps plastic. Cords etc etc . Its a small one so i would not recommand it for kitchen duty. In that case you would need an M-type :D

hi pedalinbob, if "general cutting duties" mean opening cardboardboxes, letters, string/twine/not too thick rope, cleaning your fingernails (lol) then yeah the Subclaw excels at these chores....but i wouldn't use it for food prep
as far as trying a hawkbill, that's "affordable" the Subclaw and the Byrd Crossbill comes to my mind.....thing is the Crossbill is rather large knife (like Endura-sized) so it can be "a little intimidating" to use one amongst nonknifepeoples .... while the Subclaw in comparison is tiny :p but don't let that fool you it's quite a pocket scalpel
