A certain Big web knife place has the Tatanka available for pre-orders. $199.95. I'm getting in on this. Wanted a titanium Millie, but that's going to have to wait.

Think I'm going to make it a left tip down, so I can keep my trusty old Military on my right pocket, tip down.

If it is the site I'm thinking of all you will get is lots of email saying your order is in progress and nothing else.

They've never let me down before.
Not thinking this will be the first time.
It is a new model, after all.
Patience, grasshopper.

I've bought several from that particular dealer, but I've been 'Less than impressed' with their pre-order process. For example, I had a Super Blue Delica on pre-order with them for 5 months. I was just about to buy one from another dealer when they finally filled my order. Sometimes I think that they prioritize their pre-orders by the 'Good Ol' Boy' system rather than by the order that the pre-orders came in.

It's an interesting knife. Problem is, I figure if I wanted to carry one I'd have to gain at least 300 lbs. to have any hope of having back pockets big enough to hold one and at that weight I probably wouldn't be able to reach my back pockets anyway.

You could carry it in a shoulder rig sheath or strapped across your back like a sword.

That has been my experience as of late, even after the knife has come and gone the emails still arrive "we are processing your order, etc." No you aren't? Wasn't always that way though.

I think this knife will be just fine for me. Can't wait. :)

The lowest price for it I have seen is at NationalKnives.com:

$180. (They are an official Bladeforums dealer.)

Tatanka should simply be called the Tank! :)

Begs to have a combination pouche to carry it in closed position and a sheath in open fixed position. It helps that it has such a strong lock to be in fixed position.

I have a similar setup on my Fox Knives FX-500 “MESKWAKI” Tracker Folding Knife. That's also a BIG folder with a 5.3" blade and an extra lock to keep it in fixed position. Here's a picture of the pouche/sheath. You can separate them or together. Convenient setup.

Typo below is from a Russian website.

I've had a Cruwear Military on "Preorder" since they were first available with nothing but emails. I watched them come and go on a lot of other sites,I got one from Knifeworks a few weeks ago. I responded to there last email with a pic of the knife and telling them it was great they should try it. Do you think I will get my 777 that's on "Preorder"?

I didn't manage to get the Cruwear Military at all, and it was one that I really wanted. I cancelled my preorder after receiving a total of 13 emails with status updates. Unmonitored systems are not conducive to building healthy customer relationships.

That powerlock doesen`t look extremely strong to me but I am not an expert. And does nobody think that tatanka looks kind of ugly?

Big, mean, and a little ugly on the side.
I can relate. ;)

I'll pick one up just for fun.

My exact experience. Did you ever get your Cruwear? I just ordered one through National Knives (AFAIK they are a paid BF dealer).

I did get one finally, But am always on the lookout for others. ;)
Coincidentally, I am absolutely going to buy this Tatanka.

Hopefully someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but I think Spyderco developed the Power Lock to be extra strong specifically to accommodate the extra force that can be applied to the lock with a blade as long and heavy as the Tatanka (Torque increases the farther from the pivot you get). I don't think it's especially good looking, or especially ugly either for that matter. I might buy one if my budget allows, but I have a couple others coming out this year that I'd rather have.
