I purchased a Taurus Brasil 661 not too long ago and it never occurred to me, that it would no longer be in production. I have the gun, the box and everything with it and am unable to find any info on it whatsoever. It is a 357 Magnum 4" with adjustable sights, stainless. The Taurus website has been no help at all finding the gun. It has real wood grips, and has only had 11 rounds EVER fired through it. It looks brand new and I considered it to be a new pistol. I was looking to purchase some new grips for it, and have been unable to find even mention of this gun. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi ednemo-

Taurus is a well-respected manufacturer. Navigating a web site won't do any good...speak with a live person by calling the U.S. importer:

Taurus USA
16175 NW 49th Avenue
Miami, Florida 33014
305-624-1115

Lastly, you'll want to return to your original post and DELETE THE SERIAL NUMBER from the text. It does no good there and could cause problems for you down the road.

I started to remove the serial number when I saw you beat me to it.

It's okay to post most of a serial number, replacing the last three digits with Xs. That's enough so people can find out when it was made. If you post the whole serial number some crook can say, "Hey, that gun was stolen from me back in 1985!" and you might not be able to prove he's lying.

Well, I just got off the phone with Taurus...and they were COMPLETELY worthless. They actually answered...."Oooh, we have no idea". "I don't think it matches up to anything."

So, I will be selling this gun very soon. Man, this makes me mad!

Thanks for the help.

This has been an education for me. Thank you. My revolver with the cracked frame has bugged me since I was on their website & they told me they had never made a weapon with my serial number. Greatly appreciate the FACTORY website. Going for the jugular !

Where are you located? (I hate when people put NOTHING in their profiles.)

I've owned a few old Tauri. If you're in Colorado I'll check it out for you - maybe even buy it.
