I'm picking up this week-end from our buddy JB a
Stainless steel Taurus Judge 45/410 with 6" barrel :D
any pros and cons on it guys ?

no body has one or know anything about them?

I'm just wondering if when shooting 410 shells is it
adversely effected by the barrel twist ?

That review seems to cover it pretty well. The rifling will spin the wad, thus spinning the shot column, which will cause the pattern to 'donut' eventually (same principal that sticks your clothes to the sides of the washing machine) . How far and how bad I suspect just depends on ammo selection. It might be interesting to try out some of the 00 / 000 buckshot loads made up for the 410 derringers also.

that was my thoughts , intersting , the 410 derringers :) nothing like a shell going of in your hand :D

It managed to hold minute of 'coon with 000 buck out to at least 15 yards.

:D

My as yet completely off the cuff testing indicates that it will pattern very acceptable with most sizes of shot at least to 10 yards.

Now, what was intended with this revolver isn't completely known, but I would be comfortable taking rabbit with it or even birds if I could get the muzzle up quickly enough.

I see it as mainly a vermin controller when using the shotshell option, though. I haven't tried it for groups with slugs or .45LC rounds yet, though.

thanks Andrew
nice pichure not so lucky coon though, is that the new hat in the makings ? :D just kidding :)
I want it mainly while deer hunting, when I see a bird I normally shoot it with my 243 but not while flying hence the 410 use..
if I can get out there 15-20 yards with #6 that might be Ok..
our spruce partridge is numb-er then a stick and darn near walk up to us but we can't hunt them, but we can hunt the ruffled grouse which are very easily spooked , they taste better too :D
I hate loading a revolver but the 45/410 combo intrigues me greatly :D
For reg carry (not hunting, but concealed) I carry a 9mm S&W, I just like big boy toys..

Hey Dan, thought you might like to see this. I did some looking around for a holster that would fit my Judge (it has the long barrel). There are a few makers around, but without knowing how they would fit and all, I decided to put together my own. Here's a pic.

It's a cross draw, I like it a lot.

thanks Andrew that looks like it fits the bill just right.. nice
JB didn't have a holster for this one yesterday but is looking for one for me..
I can't remember how the backs of reg holsters are set up, once I see a few ideas I may make one also.. I'm thinking they are about the same as my sheaths are set up..you always see the fronts of holsters but never the backs

it's funny I've owned belt holsters but never paid attention to how they were made.. the holster I have for my 9mm is a concealed shoulder holster so that doesn't help..

I just came in from trying this baby out with the 410 rounds :D:thumbup:
I like it.. I don't like the grips though, it's not going to be stable enough for what I like for off hand shooting,
the way the rubber is, for lack of better words, silted, it seems like it squirms in my hand. they are "or I should say the grip is to small for me anyway..I wonder if you can get a packmyer < spelling, grip for these yet?
shooting my 9mm is like pointing my finger at the target and that's the way it should be..
