This Febuary I should be getting a descent income tax return between my federal and state taxes. Am planning to put some of the cash towards paying off my Doctors bill from my little Khukuri/severed tendon accident in 2002 then the rest will probably go into purchasing some new pistols.

I have rented the Ruger Mark II 22/45 a few times at the range after I got my membership last at the first of the month and have really enjoyed shooting it. Well Monday I rented the Ruger and a Beretta U22 Neos 4.5 Inox (stainless barrel and slide). It was a dream to shoot.

Well here is how the day at the range went down. Sunday I had talked to my friend Nataly who lives next door about going shooting. She said she wanted to go and was excited to try it out. She'd been shooting BB/pellet guns before so had an idea on how things worked. I wasn't feeling to hot after work so was vegging infront of the TV. She called me and wanted to go so I went next door, got her and the gun out of my closet and we went shooting.

After putting 18 rounds threw my Single 6 I reloaded the gun and had her try it out. Giving her some Safety lessing before letting her cock it. Yeah should have done it unloaded. Will do it next time. Was impressed that she was actually quite safety caunchous so there wasn't much problem. The first few shots took her by supprise but then she started getting used to it. Showed her how to empty the gun and reload and after a while she was doing pretty good. When she had the hand of shooting, unloading and reloading I went out and Rented the Mark II. I shot it a few times then let her try it. She had some fun. When I shot the Mark II I started working on my breathing and was doing really good at 8 yards. Then the two of us shot 50 rounds threw the Mark II I swapped it out for the Beretta and put 70 rounds threw it. With it I was really working on my breathing, not because the gun was hard to shot. Quit the oposite, aiming that pistol was almost natural to me, Shot placement was awesome for me (a beginner) so I wanted to see how much better I could be. Shot it out to 10 yards and was still doing great.

After the 70 rounds in the Beretta I went back to Shooting my single 6. Nataly had finished shooting, her hands were not used to it yet. Though she did shoot the .22 WMC a few times. :) I practiced my breathing with the Single 6 and my aim got almost as good with it as it did with the Beretta and Mark II. Up till then I wasn't really controling my breathing. It really helps. Am doing that from now on.

Both the Ruger Mark III 22/45 and the Beretta have about the same retail price between $269 and $279. After shooting both at the range, I want both. Love the feel in my hand, the sights, and how they both shoot. I dislike the sharp edges on the Beretta's Magazine but can over look it because I think I liked how the grip felt a little better then the Ruger. The Blued version of the Beretta I shot has an MSRP of $250 So I can probably get it for cheeper at Sportsmans. Am thinking I will get the Blued Beretta and the Blued Mark III 22/45 for my Birthday. I love those guns!

Anyone else get to shoot the little Beretta? Whatcha think? I only put 70 rounds threw it with a mixure of ammo brands and it worked flawlessly. Was impressed. I love the sights and grip. My experience was awesome. Would love to hear some feed back from you guys. I can't find anything about it on the gunforum I frequent or another I checked out. Plus the other customers at the range I talked to rather liked shooting it. So the few experiences I've had/heared of were good. Unless people have rather negative things to say, I think I'll get both. :D

Thanks,

Heber

P.S. Who wants to go shooting this afternoon? I hope to go if I can find some one to go with me. he he he.

Aways wanted a Ruger. The 22/45 is for those who also shoot the 45 acp 1911 and want a similar grip so muscle memory remains consistant.
The berreta has been reviewed as very accurate.

I try to buy American.

Munk, I know how much you like Ruger's. :) Was waiting for you to comment. Thanks. By the way, the Beretta Neos was designed and is made right here in the USA.

I just spent the last hour online checking out gun reviews and aside from a few minor feeding issues (1 issue durring break-in happened to a few people), the Beretta was like you said, was said to be hightly accurate, specially the 7.5" barrel.

You should get a Mark III 22/45. They sure are nice. Do you know how much grips are for them?

thanks,

Heber

I just got back from Sportsmans Warehouse. Spent a while handling the Ruger Mark III and the Beretta U22 Neos 4.5" blued model. This afternoon while I was looking at reviews of the Beretta I was also looking for accesories. It has lots of them. So I put the Beretta on Lay-away. It's going to be a long couple of weeks. he he he.

Way to go! There are lots of little pleasures in life, but anticipating the pick-up of a new gun is right at the top of the list, at least it is for me.

Sure is! Got my Ruger Single 6 from Sportsmans last summer using their lay away plan. Nice to have something to look forward to after bills are payed. ;)

BTW I just got back from shooting. My friend Josh and I had a good time. We shot my Single 6, his 9mm S&W Semi Auto and he shot his Russian M44. We ran out of ammo and time. Doh! More next time. LOL!!

You couldn't have gone wrong with either. The Beretta is neat. They aimed for a mid to 'low' priced market, (all relative, of course) and ended up with a arm more accurate than it's price would normally guarentee.

Tack the Neo up to another great gun I never owned. sniff.

Munk, no reason you can't own the Beretta Neos, I got mine for $230 plus tax. :D Btw I got it this morning. It's sweet!!! Also put a Ruger Blackhawk .357 MAG/9mm on lay away today. I couldn't get both today do to hight rescrictions on multi gun purchases so I got one today and the other either tomorrow or next week.

Sometime this weekend I'm going to post pics of my guns, some knives and their holsters. Got payed today and got my Tax returns so I spent around $420 at Sportsmans today between getting my Neos, putting the Blackhawk on Lay away and all the other little stuff I got. It's been fun.

Saturday the 24th is my Birthday. The new guns are my gifts to me. Took the day off so I can shoot them.

Heber

Great choice on the Blackhawk! If I ever get my permit paperwork in, that will be an early acquisition. Then, the 45LC/45 ACP, etc, etc,.....

I've already got all the per child tax credits I'm gonna get, though.

Tom

PS Happy birthday!

Also put a Ruger Blackhawk .357 MAG/9mm on lay away today.

Good choice. :) I carried mine concealed for most of my leave without problems.

Happy early birthday!

Thanks John! How'd it carry for you? that thing is Big, well compaired to anything else I've shot. LOL!! Didn't pick it up today, to tired after a looong night then early morning at work. First day back from Vacation and all. Might get the gun after work on Monday or maybe I'll wait till Saturday when I head to the Range. Going to go Monday afternoon to try out my new Neos, not sure if I want to do the Blackhawk then or just wait for my shooting body to get back from Cali. Got 100 rounds 9mm for the gun, thinking of getting 100 rounds .38 special and posibly getgting 50 rounds of .357 MAG to test out. Never shot anything bigger then 9mm, wonder how the .357 MAG will be?

Tom and Munk, thanks for thinking of me too. B-day is the 24th, same as some other forum friends. ;)

Heber

The Blackhawk carried just fine- IWB mostly.

Recoil with .357 was pleasant. Seriously.

I also bought a large quantity of 9mm subgun ammo.

It depends on what .357 load you buy. There are some out there that are pretty pleasant to shoot, and there are some flame throwers I'm told. I prefer 38spls.

I think John's right about the recoil in the Ruger. Smith model 10 different story.

munk

Thanks John and Munk, I can't wait to get the gun. But it might be later then I thought. Over spent on Accesories and my sister's B-day is 2 days after mine.

Tis always nice to have a place to talk abought guns with out people trying to one up you or put you down for choosing something different. :D

45-70, I've heared the 38spls are nice to shoot out of my Blackhawk.

Heber

Smith finally put .357 into the tiny J frame, didn't they? You just notice the recoil more with the three main staple Smith frame sizes is all. It's not bad until you get to the J. I was spoiled on Ruger. All the Ruger double and single action revolvers are plenty beefy, and recoil is not a problem.

I was stunned the day I fired my friend's light little Keltec Nine. I mean, it was just a lousy Nine, so no problem, right? The darn little thing barked in my hand, the plastic gun being so light around the energetic round, that even the 'lowly' Nine startled me. That's why they say practise makes perfect. Familiarity makes for accuracy and good shooting under stress.
