I have just purchased an Uncle Henry and Old Timer from smokey Mountain Knifeworks.
the new Schrades are made in china.
They were inexpensive.
Are these knives any good ?

Not nearly as good as the old ones, but they're still not awful for the money.

I bought a china schrade LB-5 and was extremely disappointed with the fit and finnish. The sheath was horrible in my opinion as well. Lke I stated, fit and finnish was poor. There is bladeplay as well. The sheath is overly large for the knife and the knife flops all around in the sheath and does not hold it snug. I am just upset that they are making these knives that a very far from schrade quality, yet are allowed to use a Great American Name like schrade......... My dad had an old LB-5 and it was built like a tank. After that experience, I would much rather pay a little more for a vintage schrade than buy another of these poorly made china schrades using a Great American Name.

I steer clear of most of the Taylor Made Schrades. And I'm really not familiar with the fit and finish of any of their folders. They make a few fixed blades that are decent, however.

I've had one of their autos. I traded it off because it didn't have a safety and opened in my pocket twice and cut me so goodbye it went. I liked it a lot but wish it had a safety. I've been wanting to order a couple of their 100 year Schrade Boyscout knives that SMKW has.
