The MASTER BALISONG from TAYLOR Cutlery, Japan.
This old school knife has a vintage of 1984 when import Balisongs (of Japan) were actually of very good quality, not the 'charming china cheapies' that gave Balis a bad rep.
This one I have all but forgotten when I found it in the back of my safe, and is a total blast from the past. (I have a spare that I use as a desk knife and this one, being the safe queen has to go).
The novel approach is truly ahead of its time, the handles are disguised as two chrome pens and opens to reveal a 2.5" single edged blade (2" sharpened edge) with an overall length of 8" open.
There is no latch but can be carried closed with the two penclips. An ingenious idea ahead of the time.
It is in DEAD MINT condition and hardly handled (only to take pics and first inspection) It comes with original Box marked "TAYLOR HAND MADE, NO. 1275, JAPAN" even with the original packing foil - A true classic in pristine condition. I can assure you that it has never been used and NEVER FLIPPED. (How pristine? The pivots are still stiff and require breaking in.)
