Hello all. I thought I would intorduce myself and show a few samples of my work.
I am a very small fish in a very large ocean among the talent pool here. I'm not even a zit on a gnats azz compared to some of the greats here but I look forward to sharing, viewing and learning here. I've been making knives for 15 or so years and just got serious about it the last couple. I am a stock removal maker and love doing this in what little spare time I have. I love all the knives here and different styles and look forward to getting to know some of you.
These are the first knives I made in 1998/99. Was sure proud of them back then.
These are some of the latest Thayn Custom Knives. This one is my #3 profile.
Alternative ivory
The blade is L6 carbon steel.
The sheath is dagger style in dark brown and I couldn't help but make it African themed.
This stuff is incredibly hard to photograph, these pictures are modified to try and show just how much figure are in the scales.
This one is a number 3 with a beautiful piece of Maple Burl in a high ride friction fit sheath with an antler fire steel. I tried a homemade antique die and finish. I like it but wonder if the rest of the world will. It kinda' has a camo pattern to it.
#1 pofile with Buckeye burl.
#1 with a kydex/leather hybrid sheath.
A hidden tang rasp..
A #2 tapered tang rasp knife in a cross draw black basket weave duty belt.
I also enjoy doing custom sheaths for production knives.
I still have a lot to learn and hopefully will never quit trying to learn.
Thanks for looking and I hope you all are enjoying this wonderful season.
