TDI Ka-Bar

I've had one for about 10-11 months now. It's a solid knife.I used it as a work EDC for a long time until I got my Native I.Aus 8 steel is good but not great at holding an edge however it sharpens easily.
The knife fits in the hand well and the edge is placed at a pretty natural cutting posission.
I hope this helps.

I've owned one since they came out even though I've only been carrying it on duty for about the last 3 months or so. It is definelty a good piece of kit for the price. As designed the TDI works very well for offhand applications, it is easy to access and with a little practice very intuitive to put into action.

As far as QC is concerned the TDI Top notch, they come very sharp right out of the box. The sheath is the only weak point in the package but it is still very servicable.

I can't really speak to the TDI's merit's as a utility knife, I don't use it in that capacity at all.

The trainer is also a worthwhile purchase. My only complaint about the drone being that the part of the tang where your index finger rest is very sharp and it will draw blood when striking a semi hard surface like a BOB or a heavy bag. I think a little radiusing w/ a dremel should sort that out but I haven't gotten around to it yet.

All in all I think the TDI is probably one of the best deals in "defensive" cutlery. For a lot less than most higher end knives you can buy a TDI, Trainer, and an aftermarket sheath and still have comparable capability.

I recently purchased one of these great TDI Kabar knife's on ebay for a pretty good deal. 41 dollars total to be exact. :) I just want to know is legal to carry without a CWP in Florida? Florida has a stupid knife law that says a "common pocket knife". Not that it says anywhere in the law what a "common pocket knife" is, no size limit, no nothing... It says you need a CWP for a knife, yet not for a common pocket knife.

I have no idea what defines a common pocket knife. Could someone run that by me? I use it as a edc for cutting boxes and what not and find it perfect for such tasks. I really don't want to spend 117 and then 50 or so dollars (price of CWP permit in Florida+ cost of CWP approved class ) for the right to carry a stubby little thing like this for work and such.

It might be a good idea to run the same question by your local district attorney's office... often vagueness in the law is to allow easier convictions (wider range of interpretations accepted).
