Well after amost no coaxing and getting her to read a CKD tutorial on making knives I got my girlfriend out in the shop today. She picked out a design out the blades N'stuff catalog, drew it onto a piece of O-1 and started to cut it out. She did a great job, and then after some explanation started profiling it in my grinder. She even did the flat grinds with a little help, (the lead in grinds started). I gave her a few files and some scrap and she praticed some filework designs. She then spent a good hour doing some nice vine filework. It was a surprise, evenly spaced and all the cuts the same depth. I hope that I haven't started a monster here. Next is to pick out handle material and heat treat. She said she had fun making something out of nothing. I'll post some pics in the next couple of days. Now if I could only get her to buy "US" a bader?!

You are a lucky man. I would do anything to find a companion that shared my love of knives. Looking forward to seeing the pics of her first creation. From hearing other makers talk, they all seem to agree that no matter how long or far they have come, the first knife is always remembered. Is she a member here?

That is an awesome story! She sounds like a keeper. I look forward to seeing pics of her masterpiece.

Cool beans!
You be a lucky man!

I really need to try to get my girlfriend interested in making blades....she is interested enough in blades (has already whisered enough "sweet nothings" into my ears to talk me out of one of my customs and a CRKT Ryan 7) perhaps I could warm her up to the idea of making her own....

Hiya folks,

Nice going... keep giving her the scraps, after a while you'll find her in an apron hammering on stuff, as I did found mine.
