teaching

Hello Roncut,

I live in Park City and while I do not teach I have made a few knives. I am on the road a lot these last several months so the little time I am home is dedicated to family at this time. I am hoping to get back into knife making in the Spring if the job eases up. Do a search on line there are a few custom makers in the state that might help you out. Good luck.

If your serious about learning, it's often necessary to travel. It's not often that someone wishing to learn Bladesmithing/Knifemaking can find what they need within a local area.

Teaching is something I do often, and is one of my greatest joys in this craft. What I have learned is that many folks who are wonderful knifemakers, simply have no desire to teach, hence the necessity to sometimes travel to get what you need.
I always encourage my students to seek out and learn from the widest array of makers they can....if your going to start "locally", try "visiting" other makers first, get a feel for what it takes, and then if/when you decide the time is right for instruction, go for it.

First and foremost find a maker who makes the kind of knife you want to make, then give him a call and find out when and if he wants to teach.
