Hogs,

This piglet needs some ‘splainin. It seems the Team Gemini series creates the most fervor, is the most discussed, and is generally the most well liked of all the Busse designs.
In fact, I feel like it’s so popular that it’s blasphemous to even make this post lol.

My thing is that no matter what variant it is, whether on the exchange, the recent A2 offering, or the much requested TGLBLE, I can never get excited nor understand the appeal. Whereas other offerings I have bought multiples.

Normally, on any other model, I would just write it off and say it’s not for me. However, with its seemingly near universal appeal, I feel like it’s me and I’m missing something.

What do you Hogs like most about this design? If it’s an aesthetics, safe queen, or Walking Dead thing for most people, then I could move on without a second thought.

However if there are some functionality things that users could tell me about it that they like it would be greatly appreciated.

Since I have never held one, could it be as simple as handling one and it’s feel could convince me?

TLDR: Help me spend more on knives by selling me on the Team Gemini!

IMO: the TGLB is where it's at. Once I held one, I got it! ;) Nothing quite like it w the double talon guards and mild out tang, it's so light for its size, fits my hand like a glove, and of course it's infi!

IMO: it's an all round one size fits all user. I carry one in my camping/go bag. Some guys prefer something else. The ASH1 is popular. ASH2 I love it! B8LE I love it! But if I only have weight or room for one fixed, for me, for now, it's the tglb. However, it's a little thick behind the grind for slicing and it could POSSIBLY be improved by being thinner/anorexic and of course satin!;)

Just my 2cents:) I'm sure everyone is surprised lol.:D:p

Crosier, I have feelings similar to yours. I have had a few . Sold most.Never had an original. It's a cool knife. Have nothing bad to say about it. I am surprised about how many enthusiasts Lust them and will pay what I think is crazy money for them. But I'm sure some would say the same about some other Busse that I have bought over the years.
I'm thinking it was a popular knife from the start , once on TWD it went galactic! If someone wants to give me a good deal on an original I would try it out.:)

I asked a somewhat similar question about a year ago here, you may get something out the thread if you haven't seen it before:

https://www.bladeforums.com/threads/b8-vs-tg-other-7-8-blades.1447026/

I finally bit on the A2 Special Edition just to see what they're all about, then ordered a second because I couldn't decide on a single color combo lol.

Figure it should be relatively easy to sell one or both down the line if they aren't for me, but I had to get one (or two) in hand.

Still have a feeling that the LB is the one that I'd like the best, but they're hard to snag at a reasonable price.

I have owned a TGLB. I think it is so popular because it is the classic Combat/Utility blade. Does a lot of things really well. Is an excellent field knife. Can be used around the camp, for hunting and fighting. Plus, it just looks right. It could be a candidate for the all American fixed blade in terms of styling and build quality. It could literally be the only fixed blade you ever needed. But everyone knows you need dozens...lol.

That was an enjoyable thread :)...

I think your A2TGSE buying strategy is solid...I agree that you won't get beat up on the Exchange when / if you decide to move one along.

I'd have to agree 110% ...

but as for using, I'd reach for ANY OTHER knife I have in that size range over my TGLB if I had something to cut / slice. Now, if I had a door to breach or an ammo crate to pry open-- that's a different story.

The entire TG line has that KaBar vibe going on. And a KaBar 1205-- the one with the stacked leather washer handle and IIRC the butt cap was aluminium-- was my very first fixed blade when I was in grade school. It will always have a special place in my heart, but it was so obtuse and dull it wouldn't cut hot butter...probably the very reason why my Dad gave it to me to begin with.

That KaBar was my constant companion for a couple summer breaks digging holes for fishing worms, playing mumblypeg, prying big ole heavy flat rocks off the ground to get a hand-hold to see what was underneath and such things a 9-10 year old Tennessee boy is apt to do when going on adventures from daylight to dark every day.

I'll always own a TGLB or two for Auld Lang Syne. :)

Pete2P mirrors my whole view of it- I've never watched the zombie show, had no idea about any of that until I came to this forum- The whole thing goes back to that Kabar when I was a kid given to me by my uncle who was in the Army. Same thing, I'd go out in the woods with it on my belt and I became a survivalist in my own little world with that knife. So, it's an emotional connection.
I'll have my A2 to fill that void~ I keep going back to that Infi rat that's coming and gotta say, I think that's going to be a good one.

I liked the look of the TG when it came out. If I remember correctly not everyone did and the double talon was met with criticism.
They were pretty inexpensive when released and stayed in the store for a long time. Their popularity grew (especially with the Walking Dead)

I had a ScrapYard TT Regulator that I love. It did everything the Gemini did with much more comfortable handles and at a much better price. The Regulator isn’t a beauty queen but it’s a hellofaknife!

No worries, no splaining needed. Whatever floats your boat. The TG never pulled my trigger, although I wouldn't complain if a TGLB fell into my lap. There are other Bussekin in that size range that will ably serve as an all-rounder knife.

Another vote for the Ka-bar thing. I always liked the looks of them but never could get myself to spend money on a rat tail tanged knife. I hadn't heard of Busse when I first saw Daryl Dixon's knife as he crept up on a tent, but that fuller and full tang sent me to Google'n. The original TG was no longer being produced but the TGLB was........That price though! I had never spent that kind of money on a knife but the Noss videos of what INFI could do and the Busse warranty sealed the deal. Between those two things I knew it was a "spend money once and never worry about it again" kind of thing. Now I have lots more Busse's and of the users, the TGLB probably gets used the least, but if I could only keep one, it would be the one.

I agree that some may not appreciate the look at first and the double talon looks awkward.
If you have not used or handled one that is the problem, the TGLB is very ergonomic and just fits your hand in any grip, for me I have medium size hands but still a lot of grip left. I usually wear gloves but I don't believe there are any hot spots anyways.
The Lb is not a good chopper but you can baton though anything no problems.
I am very interested to see how the A2 chops but don't think it will be much different because IMO
most of the weight is taken from the handle area.
Hope this helps you part with your money , just try one you can't loose

The regulator was my introduction to Bussekin insanity. It still holds its own and in many ways is a close to perfect all around knife.

Initially, a few years back when the TGLB came out I was actually not impressed. What really lost it's appeal was the perceived limitations that the hilt presented for the utility of the blade. Plus I wasn't overly thrilled with the look of it. Having just received my DC CGBJ, I was more interested in traditional blade designs.

However, one day I went and looked at my Regulator and I was able to hold that however I wanted and it's a decent blade in regard to utility. And I looked at the design a little closer and it grew on me. At the time I also think part of it was that I saw Daryl using it on the Walking Dead which increased it's appeal...if I'm being honest.

So I pulled the trigger on what is now my all-time absolute FAVORITE Busse finish...Competition Finish!! Had I known it was an option, I'd have ordered my CGBJ with it as well. Unfortunately it's also one Jerry has decided not to offer anymore due to nimrods complaining about it!!

But I can say that if it came down to picking one of my blades to be carried for an unavoidable confrontation, that would be it. It's also a blade that fills many roles well...but no blade will ever do everything perfectly. Never have I ever second guessed the purchase or regretted it. Truly thrilled with the purchase years later. And I'm not a huge Busse fanboy that says "screw the mortgage, I have to have anything Jerry dreams up!!"....I call a spade a spade so if the blade sucked I'd share that to. But it doesn't. It's awesome!!!

I'm not sure I have seen all the variations- like Flar has that recurve blade, what's with that one? Did it have a specific name? and Hyde, no Crusader?

PS, if you were using the right color tractors you'd have a better collection :p
