Team Gemini in the woods

Hi,

Got a team gemini in the mail yesterday and after making a sheath and putting a sharp edge on it, I took it out in the woods on a walk today. Since its a fairly heavy blade it chops pretty well but its light enough on the belt not to feel like your pants are being dragged down. The shape of the blade lends it to camp and woods work pretty readily. I just went for a short walk chopped a few dead branches and used a esee fire kit with the gemini to start a small fire. The gemini easily shaved off some dead wood for tinder and with some leafs and pine needles I had a quick easy fire. The length of the blade and thickness would make it a good one for battoning thicker wood but I didn't have any laying around my brush pile at the moment. I did trim up some ribs for dinner and it cuts easily through the connective tissue at the top of the rib cage, and sliced onions well enough for cooking. I usually carry a smaller thinner blade for food prep camping though. So far I'm pleased with it and I'll be carrying it on my camping and hiking trips for a while. I'll update posts with how it performs.

heres some pics

Looks great cricketdave! I'm glad to hear you found yourself a good TG for yourself...enjoy it and I hope she serves you well!

Thanks Hook, I managed to replace my fun money my wife had depleted but not in time to get yours. I'm likeing the TG.

Looking good cricket!

I find when I grab the TG and go I never feel "under knifed" nor do I ponder what other blades I might need.
Blasphemy, I know...

I like my TG as a camp knife.... big enough for wood processing .. but not too big to take on a hike.,, and it looks awesome too!

Thanks for the kind comments. I took a few better pics of the sheath setup. Its just a simple kydex sheath with the gromets spaced to fit a esee molle back and pouch, I love how versitile those are and use them with a bunch of differnt knives. Once you get up to a wider blade you can buy a Junglas sheath by itself and either reshape the kydex or just make a new one and use the molle back for it.

Ok the pics

Slick sheath design cricket! What a clever, simple, and functional way to add even more badass-ness to a kydex sheath...I love it...

I am glad you didn't snag Hook's, cause now I have one to play with as well

Hehehe, sweet! Everybody wins! Hey did the TG get to you in time to take it on that camping trip you were talking about?

I like that knife a lot more after seeing your pictures! It looks right at home stuck into a tree :)

It sure did, unfortunately mother nature was not very nice that weekend and didn't go :grumpy: hoping to get out early December somewhere in the Mendocino area

The TG is a very underestimated knife. I love mine! (Exact same one as yours). It's very comfortable and is a genuine 'all rounder'. Thanks for sharing man!

you know, I was never really a fan of this knife, but after seeing it "in use" it is much more appealing. Thanks for sharing!

The more I use it the better I like it, skinned out a racoon this morning with it and it does just fine. It shinned at taking the carcass apart for the dogs. The micarta is nice and grippy even when bloody and with body fat on it to. Also used it to teach one of my daughters friends how to start a quick camp fire using dryer lint and a ESEE fire kit. Always enjoy teaching the kids outdoor skills.
